40 Years Ago This Month

a book, "The Last Dangerous Visions", was announced by Harlan Ellison. As recently as 2007 Harlan said he still wants to get the book out. A narrative of this Worst Odyssey Ever was written by Christopher Priest. You can read it at Archive.Org here. It is all so disheartening.

There is little hope that Mr. Ellison will finish the book or experience the 50th anniversary of this process. If there is anything you can do about this, please give it a try.

Postscript. A famous Science Fiction writer sent me this advice;

Why not write to Mr Ellison direct and ask him how he's getting along with things?

WFMU - Sixty Second Song Remixes

This is a plug for WFMU, an NYC radio station that also streams and also offers podcasts. Here is their blog. I entered this contest 6 years ago and won an appearance on the 80-track CD. Here are the best 18 tracks from the CD for you to enjoy. It's fun to hear Hotel California again without the time commitment, and the same goes for Stairway To Heaven and Bolero. There is something interesting going on in every track. Download all the tracks in stereo if you like using the link in the comments.

Shahin & Sepehr - October Moon

The album version is just too long at 5 minutes plus. This radio version was better received, and is my favorite instrumental in a long while. Play it here and download it with a right-click if you like.

Stephen Oliver - Lady Jane

Stephen Oliver composed for the theatre with just a few exceptions. He did do two movies for which there are no soundtrack albums. Here is the best of Lady Jane.

Planet Japan did their 200th podcast and it included a review of Not Very Pretty Music. Lucky us. If you think Japan is interesting visit Planet Japan while you may because they are closing the doors soon. Their 200 podcasts are going to disappear.

100,000 Hits Later

I have achieved my goals. I wanted to do some giving as well as taking and have tried to provide out-of-print content not available anywhere else. It was found at book sales and thrift shops and on ebay and in my vinyl and video collection. I am just about completely out of product now. So my work here is mostly done. Your comments prove we had a good time.
