40 Years Ago This Month

a book, "The Last Dangerous Visions", was announced by Harlan Ellison. As recently as 2007 Harlan said he still wants to get the book out. A narrative of this Worst Odyssey Ever was written by Christopher Priest. You can read it at Archive.Org here. It is all so disheartening.

There is little hope that Mr. Ellison will finish the book or experience the 50th anniversary of this process. If there is anything you can do about this, please give it a try.

Postscript. A famous Science Fiction writer sent me this advice;

Why not write to Mr Ellison direct and ask him how he's getting along with things?

Best of luck!

Interesting you posted this. I have been trying to get my 26-year-old son to watch 'Dreams With Sharp Teeth' to get a glimpse of Ellison. And I found an old beat-up paperback of 'Angry Candy' I'm just starting to read. I wish I knew someone with a connection to help move 'Visions' along, but I don't. I'd like to see it happen before Harlan is gone. What a writer and curmudgeon. Thanks for this update, Lee.

Thanks. I haven't seen Dreams With Sharp Teeth myself and am going to get it off of NetFlix ASAP. I suppose we are all helpless to make LAST happen, and it may be that Harlan is just as helpless.
