After Pilkington - 1986 - Stephen Oliver

This is a strange and funny film that is a must-have if you are a big fan of composer Stephen Oliver. Otherwise it isn't. Five needful links in comments.

Oh say, the unzipping password for all my wares is near the top of the page and on the right.

Thank you so much for this flick. My dad, who is sadly going a bit gaga now, always talked about it but had neither name nor actors. He will be so pleased.
Great site BTW

ps - I'm also looking for another movie for him from around this period (pre-1987 in this instance, so even two years earlier) - British drama (so either BBC play or ITV of that period) - a prim and mousy shop clerk saves every penny she earns and then heads off to a foreign location where she hopes to snare a hubbie amongst the well-heeled there. I think she playacts as if she comes from, or has money when really it's her savings. She is constantly offended by the sight of the chubby and shabby cook at the hotel(?) - end result is that none of the posh guests fall for her and the final scene is where she succumbs to the charms of the cook, and enters his rooms. credits.
He talks about this movie all the time - usually to explain aspirations and how life can surprise you but obviously I have little hope of finding it. I'm just taking a punt here in the unlikely event you might recognise it.
pps - I bought him 1986's Hotel du Lac as it really sounded similar to his TV drama but no, that wasn't the one. No cook romance at the end
D

You are very welcome. Did Miranda Richardson also appear in this movie that you are looking for?

That is very possible. I must check her IMDB. Thanks for the possible indice

No, I just checked - The Death of the Heart (1987) has a somewhat similar tone but is not the movie.
The search continues, I'm afraid.
