That is the effect, isn't it. Who miked this thing? The strings are on the left, hard, and the percussion and horns are loud and way to the right. The Lettermen are in the middle and getting a little drowned out. You can still discriminate their voices easily which is good. I do like their singing on this tune.

Interesting. To my cloth ears - the singers seem to be standing 30 feet behind the orchestra, without a microphone.
