Dune - Alternative Edition Redux - 2012

This was gifted to Archive.Org by someone who remains anonymous - an inside job perhaps. The Archive.Org link is dead but you can still get it right here. Link in comments.

Another new version of Dune will be in theaters for the holidays.

Tks Edfray.
It will be interesting to compare this to the 2021 version which, by the way, is already on archive.org if you are a little creative.

Thank you for this. It will keep me busy while my son-in-law talks. And talks, and talks. He's a dumb ass.

Anyway, thank you very much.

I've just taken delivery of the new 4K BluRay of the Lynch Dune, so it will be interesting to compare https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dune-4K-Blu-ray/291803/#Review

Good for you Mike. Please let me know how long it runs, especially if it is more than 3 hours.

It's not over. I just found a 2-CD version of Dune, the runtime being 1:32:21 plus 1:24:31. Irulan's voice-over is replaced by a man's. Also, the original puppet sand-worms are replaced by CGI. The Paul versus Feyd fight scene is different what with Sting's new cool move of jumping up and turning a 360 as he lands. It doesn't help much and the scene ends with Sting catching the shiv in the usual way.

Thank you Edfray! The wife and the kiddo just saw the new one in town and are quite interested in this. The additional 2 CD version sounds interesting. Happy holidays.

I actually saw the rough cut of Dune (selected scenes only) at the San Diego COmic-con when they were promoting it. An exec from the studio said this would probably be the most expensive film ever made.

Thank you for this edition.

You are very welcome. I would like to find out how much it cost. I heard that the author of Dune was involved with the production. That could hurt.
