Firesign Theatre - Boom Dot Bust - 1999 - Updated!
A reviewer said: "Boom Dot Bust" is wonderful--and totally unexpected. After waiting 20 years for a new creation ("The Three Faces of Al" was good, but Nick Danger was not new) I felt let down by "Give Me Imortality..." which was funny but pretty shallow. I was thinking "you can't catch lightning in a bottle twice" when "BDB" arrived. It was like finding a Firesign record from 1975 that I hadn't heard before. It has everything I love about Firesign: layer-upon-layer of delightful word-play, satire, and verbal slapstick. Just like "Bozos" you can listen over and over, with repeated pleasures-of-discovery. The 4 or 5 have recaptured their old magic. My wife and kids don't understand any of it, though I've tried and tried to explain my "Uh Clem" license plate. If you enjoyed any classic Firesign, you'll enjoy Boom Dot Bust". Link in comments.

Firesign Theatre - Alternative Rose Parade - Video
On 1/1/2000 the Firesign Theatre rang in the new millennium by broadcasting from the Pacifica radio studios and giving us The Alternative Rose Parade. Listeners were encouraged to tune in the actual Rose Parade television broadcast - with no sound - and listen to the Firesign radio commentary instead. Enjoy. The Firesign voice-over begins at the 2:18 minute mark. Link in comments.

The Yeager Tapes - An Autobiography
Here is the autobiography of Chuck Yeager as read by Bob Collins, mostly, and also by Chuck and his wife Glennis. Chuck describes his life as a hunter, airplane mechanic, pilot, and leader. He was shot down during WW2 but escaped and returned to duty over Europe. After the war he became a test pilot and broke the speed of sound. You will see how military jealousies complicated his career. Six wonderful hours of audio. Link in comments.

The Garner Files
James Garner fought in Korea and made movies The Great Escape, Les Mans, Grand Prix, and others. He starred in Maverick and The Rockford Files and sued Universal Studios for $16.5 million and prevailed in court. He enjoyed off-road racing and was badly beaten-up in 1980 by former Green Beret Aubrey Lee Williams Junior who did jail time as a result. Garner wrote a great memoir in 2011 which became this audiobook. Link in comments.
