Music expert, author, and WFMU DJ Irwin Chusid sifted a lot of music to find what he describes as Incorrect or Outsider Music. He wrote a great book about this which you can find on Amazon. He also did a WFMU show called Incorrect Music with the clever and quick Michelle Boule' for some years. Many of these early shows are gone from WFMU's online archive which will not do. Here are the 18 earliest shows in my collection. Here are 3 CD's worth divided into 6 downloads. Links in comments.
Of special interest here is the very fine Rhythm Is A Dancer by Snap and also What Is Love by Haddaway which was used often on Saturday Night Live. Perhaps you remember More And More by the Captain Hollywood Project? Link in comments.
Twenty tracks by the Tornadoes, The Rhythm Rockers, The Del-Vetts, The Catalinas, The Surfaris, The Trashmen, Jery Cole & His Spacemen, and more. Link in comments.
This was the first movie produced by American Public Television. I loved the movie when it aired in 1980 and wanted to see it again. But it did not air and was not available for sale! In 1987 I found a web page from a person who was willing to provide VHS copies to the faithful and got one. The movie went into print 13 years later and I bought the DVD. It has gone out of print since and will probably stay that way. Learn more about the movie here. You could download a 329MB version of the movie from YouTube but I think you will prefer the quality of this 1.58GB file instead. I blame an old version of Filzip for my problem earlier with the downloadable. Link in comments.
