National Lampoon - Lemmings - 1973

I was aware of the record but not the off-Broadway show which became the HBO film that never aired.  Perhaps the ensemble disappointed the Suits at HBO. A copy of the film is on YouTube right now but you will prefer this video file which is twice the size and twice the quality.  Link in comments.

National Lampoon Radio Dinner - 1972

Here, for the sake of completeness, is this classic National Lampoon record.  Track 8 involves a great Joan Baez imitator.  The lyrics are incorrect and outrageous and she sounds just like Joan.

Bye Bye Birdie - 1995

Jason Alexander and Vanessa Williams star in this effort which is faithful to the original Broadway show.

Incorrect Music - 2000

Music expert, author, and WFMU DJ Irwin Chusid sifted a lot of music to find what he describes as Incorrect or Outsider Music.  He wrote a great book about this which you can find on Amazon.  He also did a WFMU show called Incorrect Music with the clever and quick Michelle Boule' for some years.  Many of these early shows are gone from WFMU's online archive which will not do. Here are the 18 earliest shows in my collection. Here are 3 CD's worth divided into 6 downloads. Links in comments.

The Lathe Of Heaven - 1980

This was the first movie produced by American Public Television.  I loved the movie when it aired in 1980 and wanted to see it again. But it did not air and was not available for sale!  In 1987 I found a web page from a person who was willing to provide VHS copies to the faithful  and got one.  The movie went into print 13 years later and I bought the DVD.  It has gone out of print since and will probably stay that way.  Learn more about the movie here. You could download a 329MB version of the movie from YouTube but I think you will prefer the quality of this 1.58GB file instead. I blame an old version of Filzip for my problem earlier with the downloadable. Link in comments.

1963 was the big year for Surf music.  Link in comments.

Cowabunga! The Surf Box - 1996 - Disc 1

The first two discs are full of early gems; the third disc covers the decline of surf music in the late sixties, and the final disc gives us a survey of modern surf-revival music. I heart Rhino Records but this box is out-of-print and will probably stay that way. Link in comments.

George Van Eps' Seven-String Guitar - 1967

That extra guitar-string makes a difference. Apparently this album was distributed to radio stations such as Iowa Public Radio but no records were then pressed for public sale. The album doesn't exist on Wikipedia. Link in comments.

Kitty is a very BAD Mystic

Well, the video has been taken down, again, by one William Moore, who claims to own the video. I will not post the video to YouTube again as it will only be taken down again. Oh well. You may be able to find it elsewhere or on YouTube someday.

Dark Side Of The Rainbow

This is also known as Dark Side of Oz or The Wizard of Floyd and refers to the pairing of the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon with the film The Wizard of Oz. It results in moments in which the two seem to correspond. Visit Wikipedia to learn more about the claims of synchronicity.

The Youtube version of this video is muddy and I wanted to make a better one available. A person who works in DVD authoring made this for us. The resulting video tastes great and is less filling at 396MB. Link in comments.

Duck's Breath Mystery Theatre - Senseless Cruelty - 1989

This is the last ensemble project by The Ducks if you ignore the "Zadar - Cow From Hell!" film from 1989 and the reunion show they did in 2005. The five Ducks- Jim Turner, Leon Martell, Merle Kessler, Dan Coffey, and Bill Allard worked separately thereafter. Link in comments.

This Old Heart Of Mine - 1989

This tune was 5 weeks at number 1 in 1989. It's too bad Ron Isley and Rod Stewart did not record a few more tunes together. If you would like the video, freshly ripped from a 26 year-old video cassette, the link is in the comments.

Hawaiian Favorites - 1957

America sure seemed to be in love with Hawaii after World War 2. As a young paperboy I saw a lot of living rooms with Hawaiian themes. By the way, the model on the record jacket isn't authentically Hawaiian - she's more like the music inside.

Monty Python Examines The Life Of Brian - 1979

This interview happened before the movie was released. The lads are quick and chipper and funny and there are still six of them. These Warner Brothers Music Show records were provided to big radio stations, mostly, and were never available for sale to the public. Link in comments.
